Anxiety & Depression

When your mind feels heavy, overwhelmed, or difficult to switch off, support can help.

Anxiety and depression can affect how you think, feel, sleep, work, connect with others, and experience everyday life. You may look capable on the outside while feeling exhausted, worried, disconnected, or stuck inside.
Counselling can help you understand what is driving the distress, develop practical ways to manage it, and begin creating changes that feel realistic in your daily life.

You May Be Experiencing

Anxiety and Depression Can Create a Cycle

When anxiety rises, the mind often begins scanning for problems, replaying conversations, predicting what could go wrong, or trying to gain certainty. This can lead to avoidance, exhaustion, irritability, and difficulty being present.
Depression can create a different but related cycle. Low energy and motivation can make everyday tasks feel harder. You may withdraw, stop doing things that once mattered to you, and then feel even more disconnected or discouraged.
Counselling helps us understand your particular cycle so that change is not based on generic advice. We focus on what is actually happening in your life and what can help you move forward.

How Counselling Can Help

Develop strategies for worry, emotional regulation, rumination, avoidance, and difficult moments.
Challenge Unhelpful Thinking
Learn to notice patterns of thinking that increase distress and develop more balanced and useful ways of responding.
Reconnect With What Matters
Move toward activities, relationships, routines, and goals that support a greater sense of meaning and well being.
Strengthen Self Compassion
Reduce harsh self criticism and develop a more supportive relationship with yourself.
Create Sustainable Change
Focus on realistic changes that fit your life rather than temporary motivation or quick fixes.

My Approach

I use evidence informed approaches that may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma informed care. The approach is adapted to your needs rather than forcing every client into the same method.
Our work may include understanding triggers, learning how your nervous system responds to stress, developing practical skills, exploring deeper patterns, and identifying changes that can improve daily functioning and quality of life.
In Person and Virtual Counselling
In person appointments are available at my downtown Vancouver office. Virtual counselling is available to clients in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.
